Refill features cold brew, espresso, and crepes. They serve popular Bird Rock Coffee, Bread & Cie pastries and other light fare in a chic new space at the corner of Park Boulevard and Robinson Avenue.
Tobiason is enjoying his new role as proprietor of this great cafe, but his talents are broad having also served as a designer and builder of several functional and artistic items, such as screw chairs, wine tables and a plinko-like coin bank.
“Refill is my current passion,” said Nathan Tobiason, owner of Refill. “It is my hope that this cafe becomes a great meeting place for the residents of Hillcrest. The open design, great coffee and light fare make for a great place to gather.”
Tobiason credits his educational background for allowing him to have such a diverse and successful career. His education started at TCPS in Clairemont, San Diego for those all-important early years of learning.
His mother, Maggie Price, co-founded TCPS with the purpose of fostering a balance of academic excellence and interpersonal skills, while empowering students to become learners, leaders, thinkers, and creative problem solvers.
“Sherry Risch and I built this school to create life-long learners that would be successful both professionally and personally,” said Maggie Price. “Nathan is a great example of this as are many of our wonderful graduates that have gone on to attend prestigious schools and become leaders in their communities.”
TCPS is family oriented and dedicated to providing opportunities for deeper learning with small class sizes (no more than 14 students per grade). This provides an environment perfectly suited to a child’s academic, emotional and social growth.
About The Child’s Primary School (www.tcps.org)
Founded on the belief that The Child Is Primary, TCPS maintains a commitment to preparing students for the future so that they may be successful in high school, college, and in life. The “future” that faces our students is one that will require them to do more than prepare for the next test. They will be called on to address challenging and complex issues. For over 30 years TCPS has been committed to a philosophy that emphasizes teaching the process of learning, of problem solving, and of critical thinking. Along with a challenging academic program, TCPS mindfully demonstrates to students how to develop the individual and interpersonal skills that will allow them to develop into leaders in the emerging global community.
