Clairemont Woman Named Artist in Residence

Dr. Turner & Anthony LoBue
Clairemont resident Katie Turner, PhD was recently selected as Artist in Residence for the Arts for Veterans program at the Veterans Museum in Balboa Park, Anthony LoBue, Arts Director at the Museum has announced.

Dr. Turner has been involved in the arts in Clairemont as well, founding the Clairemont Act One theatre group five years ago.

Her project at the Veterans Museum, "Improv For All," encourages community building between veterans, active military, and civilians by creating an opportunity for participants to learn and grow together in a fun, low-risk environment.

Beginning in October, Dr. Turner will hold classes in comedic improvisation techniques on Tuesday evenings from 6-8pm at the museum.  The classes are free and open to anyone. Once a month students will offer a performance at the Veteran's Museum.

The program will be considered for renewal on a quarterly basis. Read the museum's newsletter "The Eagle" for more announcements as the program develops.
