Rock 'n Roll Marathon This Sunday June 1st: Road Closure Info

The Rock 'n Roll Marathon San Diego happens this weekend, Sunday June 1st.  Some 30,000 runners, including 2014 Boston Marathon champion Meb Keflezighi, will celebrate its seventeenth edition with a 26.2 mile marathon and 13.1 mile half-marathon featuring live music lining the streets, cheer squads, and a finish line concert to end the race.

This is a great event for San Diego but can be a bit inconvenient for residents not participating because of road closures and freeway ramp closures. The secret to not being inconvenienced as you go about your Sunday morning is to learn where and when the closures are so you can plan your travel accordingly.

And if you don't have anywhere to be early Sunday morning, think about watching part of the race. There are spots close to most Clairemont and Bay Park residents where you can cheer on the runners, walkers and wheelchair participants too. If you haven't ever watched part of the race, give it a try! It's inspirational to see people who have trained hard and are running to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Plus there are live bands sprinkled around the course (it is the Rock 'n Roll Marathon after all!) and a free concert post-race at Petco Park!
