San Diego Humane Society and SPCA (SDHS) has more than 650 cats and the San Diego County Department of Animal Services (DAS) has more than 550 cats in their care today. To help find a home for these cats, SDHS and DAS are partnering together and reducing adult cat adoption fees to just $5, August 24th through the end of September.
“This year alone we’ve taken in more than 830 cats and kittens from overcrowded shelters in our community. The purpose of this adoption campaign is to encourage everyone to consider adoption when looking to add a pet to your family,” said Dr. Gary Weitzman, president and CEO of the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA. “Every animal adopted makes space for another animal that’s in need of care, so our goal is to help all animals find a home as quickly as possible.”

About the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA
Serving San Diego County since 1880, the San Diego Humane Society and SPCA’s scope of social responsibility goes beyond adopting animals. The Humane Society offers San Diegans a wide range of programs and services that strengthen the human-animal bond, prevent cruelty/neglect, provide medical care and educate the community on the humane treatment of animals.
As one of San Diego’s oldest nonprofit organizations, the Humane Society has campuses located in San Diego and Oceanside, as well as an adoption center inside the El Cajon Petco store. The San Diego Humane Society is supported solely through contributions, grants, bequests, investments, proceeds from the Muttique retail store and small fees for services.
